Frommermann

Masters of Vocal Theatre

The love for the Comedian Harmonists brings together six friends in 2005. On behalf of the Grachtenfestival, they give a new voice to the music that was banned in 1935. With great pleasure, they successfully dedicate themselves to these wonderfully melancholic and virtuosic songs that conquered the world in the dark 1930s. In honor of the founder Harry Frommermann, they celebrate their debuts on Dutch stages under his name as ‘Frommermann’.

In the following years, Frommermann evolves into one of the most versatile ensembles in the Netherlands. Following the example of their musical heroes, they gather songs and music from all directions and genres, from different eras, in various languages, tailored to their group: 5 male voices, piano, and guitar, guaranteed to be accompanied by humor, melancholy, exuberance, and an unrestrained joy of playing.

They have long been touring beyond their national borders, captivating audiences with various sensational programs.

FROMMERMANN – The Dutch Harmonists

Five friends in an attic room. Five different voices – one shared sound. What the Comedian Harmonists began in 1920s Berlin, Frommermann continues in Amsterdam. What if political circumstances had not brought the world’s most famous close-harmony ensemble to an abrupt end? For 20 years now, the answer to that question has been Frommermann’s musical motivation: everything that is fun is tailor-made for the group’s unique line-up and performed in a new, instantly recognizable sound – as if the legendary Harmonists were still singing today. Especially today! Welcome to Frommermann!

*Information for presenters/organizers:
The programme lasts approximately 70 minutes, generally without an interval, though one can be added if desired.
Linguistically, we are international – German, English, French and Dutch will definitely be included, and most likely several other languages as well. We will take turns hosting the evening ourselves and guiding the audience through the many different musical styles.

Frommermann Celebrates Christmas

Frommermann at Christmas has almost become as traditional as Christmas itself. The seven musical friends select their repertoire from eight centuries of Christmas music – sometimes gazing heavenwards, sometimes standing firmly on the ground with both feet deep in the snow.

FROMMERMANN takes the A-Train!

Raise a glass after business has been taken care of in the back room – lean back in your armchair, light a cigar, and then: lights. Music. Exhilarating, electrifying, fresh, rule-free, yet full of passion and humanity. Sinatra, Basie and Ellington are no more. But the seven Frommermann men most certainly are. And while you travel back in time on the A-Train, we meet in the present. Where we sing. Play. Dance. Tell stories. And come together. Now more than ever.
