Rüdiger Baldauf – Trumpet Night & Friends

A true celebration for lovers of high-quality live music!

Rüdiger Baldauf, the outstanding trumpeter and creative force behind Trumpet Night, regularly invites an impressive gathering of music scene stars. He brings together renowned guests such as Max Mutzke, Thomas Quasthoff, Laith Al-Deen, Nils Landgren, Joo Kraus, Lorenzo Ludemann, and the emerging exceptional talent Jakob Manz on stage.

Rüdiger Baldauf demonstrates his versatility by adapting and rearranging compositions of the guests to the respective line-up. The result is an impressive fusion of artistic skill and musical passion that captivates the audience irresistibly. However, Trumpet Night is not just a showcase for the soloists; it is also accompanied by an extremely high-caliber band.

Rüdiger Baldauf’s Trumpet Night & Friends is a genuine live experience!

Rüdiger Baldauf (Trumpet, Effects)
Baldauf, in addition to his extensive live performances, has produced five albums and published specialized books. Many know him as the trumpeter for the “RTL Saturday Night Show” or “TV Total.” He toured with Paul Kuhn Orchestra, Udo Jürgens, the “United Jazz and Rock Ensemble,” Shirley Bassey, Joe Zawinul, Maceo Parker, and participated in productions with Max Greger, Jamie Cullum, George Duke, Michael Bublé, Ray Charles, John Scofield, James Brown, Gentleman, Thomas Quasthoff, Seal, Liza Minelli, or Barbra Streisand.

Randy Brecker (trumpet, flugelhorn)
The American trumpeter and flugelhornist has achieved numerous successes throughout his impressive career. In the 1970s, he co-founded the fusion band “The Brecker Brothers” with his brother Michael Brecker, which gained fame through its influential albums and live performances. Prior to that, Brecker had been a member of “Blood, Sweat & Tears,” which won several Grammy Awards.
Randy Brecker is also distinguished by an impressive list of collaborations with music giants such as Frank Zappa, Steely Dan, Bruce Springsteen, Lou Reed, and more. As a solo artist, Brecker has celebrated significant successes, contributing to his multiple Grammy Awards, including one for the Best Jazz Album with “34th N Lex.”
Randy Brecker’s influence on the jazz scene is enormous! His distinctive style and technical virtuosity have significantly shaped the development of jazz and fusion music.

Max Mutzke (Vocals)
He undoubtedly ranks among the best German pop and soul singers. With his powerful voice, he effortlessly navigates through any genre. “Welt hinter Glas” from his latest studio album “Max” was a pop radio hit. With the NDR Radiophilharmonie, he revives the great tradition of American jazz orchestras with classics like “Me & Mrs. Jones,” and with his band monoPunk, things get quite funky.

Thomas Quasthoff (Vocals)
He was one of the world-renowned opera and lieder singers from Germany before ending his unprecedented career in 2012 after three Grammys and seven ECHOs. The stage did not let him go, and he discovered many new talents in himself. Since then, he has appeared on stage as a reciter, cabaret artist, moderator, and even as an actor. Long before bidding farewell to classical music, he also began to pursue his second great love, jazz, which had accompanied him throughout his life. The microphone became his instrument.

Laith Al-Deen (Vocals)
At a time when few recognized the potential of German pop, Laith Al-Deen contributed to laying the foundation for the success of an entire genre with his works. The singer of hits like “Bilder von Dir,” “Dein Lied,” or “Keine Wie Du” significantly shaped German pop from the beginning. Al-Deen sold millions of records, received Gold records, and achieved top chart positions. Over the years, he never lost his passion, quality, and the desire for reinvention.

Joo Kraus (Trumpet, Effects, Vocals)
A significant German jazz trumpeter and composer known for the hip-jazz project Tab Two. Today, music giants like Jazzkantine, De-Phazz, Fury In The Slaughterhouse, Kinderzimmer Productions, Laith al Deen, Peter Herbolzheimer, Charlie Mariano, and Tina Turner benefit from his artistry.

Jakob Manz (Saxophone)
An absolute exceptional talent. At just 16, he joined the Bundesjazzorchester, performing in concert halls such as the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, the Kölner Philharmonie, or the Gasteig München, as well as in various countries. Even his latest album, Natural Energy (April 2020, Act Music), sounds compositionally mature, making it easy to predict that there is much more to come from Jakob Manz.

Lorenzo Ludemann (Trumpet)
He performs with bands like the Heavytones, the Fantastischen 4, or artists like Gregor Meyle, and is regularly found as a guest musician with the WDR Big Band. Since 2021, Lorenzo has been a member of the show band “Wolf And The Gang” of the SAT1 show “Let The Music Play,” as well as in the revival of the TV total show with the Heavytones on Pro7.

Additional Line-up (Fixed Band)
Thomas Heinz / Drums (including Ben Zucker, Helene Fischer, Heavytones, Mousse T.)
Marius Goldhammer / Bass (including Chaka Kahn, Milow, Bap, Joy Denalane)
Christian Frentzen / Keyboards (including Till Brönner, Marla Glen, Stefanie Heinzmann) Bruno Müller / Guitar (including Mezzoforte, Till Brönner, Jennifer Rush, Heavytones)
